The EC has presented a strategic vision to ensure the future of European agriculture, balancing sustainability, resilience, and competitiveness. Recognising the sector’s role in the transition to a low-carbon economy, the plan sets ambitious 2040 climate targets while securing food production and supporting farmers.
A key aspect of the strategy is promoting sustainable innovation, encouraging the adoption of practices that reduce emissions without compromising efficiency. It also aims to equip farmers with the necessary tools to assess and enhance their environmental performance, reinforcing the link between productivity and ecological responsibility.
Another priority is biodiversity restoration, with efforts focused on preserving soil health, water quality, and air purity. By cutting agricultural emissions and strengthening ecosystems, the EU seeks to protect natural resources for future generations.
Aligned with this vision, VINNY is committed to advancing sustainability in viticulture, developing bio-based solutions that foster a circular economy and minimise environmental impact. By creating alternatives to traditional agrochemicals, the project contributes to a more responsible and enduring agricultural landscape.
The EU’s agricultural strategy represents a step forward in ensuring that farming remains both productive and environmentally conscious.
