VINNY General Assembly: 24 months of innovation in sustainable viticulture
The VINNY consortium held its 24-month General Assembly in Austria, hosted by WGS and BOKU, to assess two years of scientific achievements and refine the strategic roadmap for the future of sustainable viticulture.
The first day highlighted the Project's technical advancements. From the identification and exploitation of vine-derived bioactives and industrial side-stream biofertilisers, to developments in nanoencapsulation, functional agrotextiles and validation platforms, each Work Package reported significant milestones. The session also addressed rigorous safety assessments, LCA, LCC and SSbD activities, as well as dissemination, communication and exploitation tasks, ensuring the Project’s strategic roadmap remains fully aligned with its core objectives of scientific excellence and collaborative innovation.
The second day transitioned from the meeting room to the field with a technical visit to the facilities of Project's partner Höhere Bundeslehranstalt und Bundesamt für Wein und Obstbau Klosterneuburg (WGS). This activity was essential for the direct assessment of experimental sites, including vineyard and greenhouse facilities. Observing field trials firsthand allowed the consortium to validate the integration of new bio-based technologies under real-world conditions while fostering direct exchange and networking among partners.
By combining analytical review with hands-on technical validation, the consortium reinforced its mission to ensure that the vineyards of tomorrow will be both more resilient and productive.
The meeting concluded with a unified vision and renewed energy as the VINNY Project progresses to its next phase, prepared to lead the green revolution in the viticulture sector.
